Alamo Gives Grant for Mobile Businesses: $5,000

Gulf Coast natives Davis Turner and Melinda Reese started event and catering company Huckleberry Hospitality in March 2019 with the mission to bring elevated cuisine and Southern Texas hospitality to the Central Texas community. An upcoming food truck will focus on sustainable seafood by strictly sourcing from small fishermen who line- and reel-catch wild fish and eliminating seafood offerings on the verge of being overfished. Through this approach, Huckleberry Hospitality will help repopulate species of sea life while offering the Austin area a greater variety of seafood with the city’s first food truck committed exclusively to sustainable seafood.

With the grant, Huckleberry will purchase specialty refrigeration equipment to keep fish frozen and ensure ingredient quality.
