The Austin Food & Wine Alliance is dedicated to creating meaningful and accessible educational resources to inspire and empower the next generation of culinary artists in Central Texas.
The Culinary Arts Career Conference (CACC) is the first of its kind in the nation—a conference designed specifically for high school students aspiring to a career in culinary.
The CACC helps those students explore potential career paths, whether they aspire to be an executive chef or a food truck owner, a butcher or a food entrepreneur. Thanks to our generous sponsors, this conference is 100% free to attend, ensuring that any student has the opportunity.
Why We Do It: We recognize that students who hope to operate outside the “traditional” career model are woefully underserved. To fill that gap, we created the CACC to inform, prepare, and inspire the next generation of culinary talent.
We bring in top talent to engage with the students in panels, workshops, and keynotes. Past champions include Aaron Franklin of Franklin BBQ, Clayton Christopher of Sweet Leaf Tea Company, Kari Underly, a third-generation butcher, Jae Kim of Chi’lantro, Chef Rene Ortiz of Launderette, and more.
The AFWA’s educational programs are made possible via proceeds from our annual signature events, beneficiary events, and generous community donations. Your generous support as a sponsor or a donor will specifically impact the next generation of innovation.
